An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run in when approaching the elbow, involving the winner, Enemenemynemo (IRE), ridden by Tom Bellamy, Champ De Gane (FR), placed second, ridden by Daryl Jacob and Pearl Of The West (IRE) placed third, ridden by Craig Nichol.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Enemenemynemo (IRE) or Champ De Gane (FR)’s placing as the major cause of the interference was Enemenemynemo (IRE) whom, when hanging right-handed after the last fence, had to negotiate the elbow with Champ De Gane (FR) edging slightly right-handed causing Pearl Of The West (IRE) to be momentarily short of room, with Enemenemynemo (IRE) going on to win comfortably by 1¼ lengths.
The interference was found to be accidental as both riders of Enemenemynemo (IRE) and Champ De Gane (FR) had taken reasonable steps to avoid causing interference to Pearl Of The West (IRE) as they negotiated the elbow.
