As the trainer had indicated at declaration prior to racing that the gelding should not be withdrawn in the event that it shed a plate, Captain Vallo (IRE) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and deemed fit to run.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Miquelon (GB), which started favourite and finished unplaced, during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities, apart from the gelding had lost both its front shoes.
