Darragh Keenan, the rider of Verne Castle (GB), placed fifth, beaten a short-head for fourth, had appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Keenan was suspended for 2 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing on a horse that could have finished fourth.
The performance of Gracious John (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
The representative of David Evans could offer no explanation for the gelding's performance.
