Permission was given for Jumira Bridge (GB) to go early to post and to be mounted in the chute; for Nacho (IRE) to go early to post and for Armo (GB) to be mounted in the chute.
The raceday Privilege request in relation to Nacho (IRE), trained by Donald McCain, was not submitted.
McCain was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all raceday Privilege requests are submitted before 1pm on the day before racing.
The Starter reported that Hot Hot Hot (GB) (IRE) was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Tony Carroll was informed that the mare could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving Oeil De Tigre (FR), placed fifth, ridden by Jonathan Fisher; Hot Hot Hot (GB), unplaced, ridden by Mollie Phillips; Rockley Point (GB), unplaced, ridden by Phil Dennis; Arkid (GB), unplaced, ridden by Lewis Edmunds and Armo (GB), placed third, ridden by Connor Beasley.
The interference was found to be accidental as Oeil De Tigre (FR) hung quickly right-handed before being promptly corrected at the same time as Beasley had committed for a legitimate gap between Oeil De Tigre (FR) and Arkid (GB), which resulted in Armo (GB) being carried off its intended line and brushing with Arkid (GB), causing that runner to shift sharply right-handed making contact with Hot Hot Hot (GB) causing that mare to become unbalanced and move right-handed into the path of Rockley Point (GB) which was bumped and carried off its intended line.
Paul Mulrennan, the rider of Nacho (IRE), which stayed on from an unpromising settling position to finish fourth, beaten by 1½ lengths was asked to explain his riding of the gelding in the middle stages after having become partially detached from the main division of runners.
Mulrennan stated that from the widest draw in stall 11, he had been instructed to restrain at the start and fold across in behind runners which he had been able to do successfully.
However, the early pace was strong and Nacho (IRE) failed to travel with much fluency due to being outpaced over this 5 furlong trip.
Mulrennan added that whilst he had not been overly animated in asking the gelding to improve and obtain a closer position, he was niggling and squeezing Nacho (IRE) along, but there was no response down the back straight and approaching the home turn.
Mulrennan further explained that whilst Nacho (IRE) had made ground in the home straight when pulled wide to mount its challenge, he considered that its effort was flattered by the pace collapsing in front.
He indicated that he would be recommending to Mr.
McCain that the gelding would appreciate being stepped up to 6 furlongs, which would enable him to travel better and fill the bridle.
His comments were noted.
