See also » Banjo-completes-Ladies-CupLa-Touche-double it's unbelievable but as I said before it's a family success and it's all about the Walsh family. Aaron, Barry's brother, owns him and their father John trains him for all the point-to-points so this is just an honour for me. They have banks at home to school their horses and I've run them in the banks races for them for a number of years and we absolutely love it.'. two years ago he got a little cut on a hind leg and was a bit sore so didn't turn up in the La Touche. I always thought that he'd be better over four miles than three and I was questioning whether he should have run in the Ladies Cup the other day so this is just marvellous. I've seen him running in the point-to-points for John and he'd look slow. We ran him in a few hunter chases to have him as fit as we could go today and he was so outclassed by a lot of those horses in Fairyhouse a few weeks ago. When he goes out there he just latches on to the bridle and he loves it. He's so small, nimble and fast over these fences. He's very good at it. P J Rothwell, trainer
The Stewards enquired into an incident after jump 10 "The Mongey Stone Wall" involving Some Neck (FR), ridden by Mr B.W. Harvey, Alpha Des Obeaux (FR), ridden by Mr J.J. Codd, pulled up and Call It Magic, ridden by K.M. Donoghue, where it appeared that these runners ran wide approaching a direction post. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr J.J. Codd stated that he was racing on the hind quarters of Call It Magic and on realising what was happening, he had insufficient time to alter course and ran out resulting in him pulling up
K.M. Donoghue stated that he had familiarised himself with the course layout prior to racing but had a lapse when approaching the direction post and momentarily decided to go outside the direction post before quickly correcting his mount back onto the correct course. Mr B.W. Harvey stated that he had realised where he was going wrong and quickly tried to correct his mount back onto the correct course which he achieved but lost ground in so doing
Having viewed the recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the rider's explanations and took no further action
The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr P.L. Malone, regarding the failure of Mr J.J
Codd, rider of Alpha Des Obeaux (FR), to weigh in after this race having pulled up during the course of the race
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he was most disappointed with the outcome for his mount and returned early to the weighroom having pulled up. He accepted that his failure to present himself at scales as required by rule was an oversight on his part. Having considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that Mr J.J. Codd was in breach of Rule 227 (i) by failing to present himself at scales to weigh in having pulled up during the course of the race. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned Mr J.J. Codd on this occasion and reminded him of his responsibility to comply with Rule 227 (i) in any future similar situation K.M. Donoghue, rider of Call It Magic trained by Ross O'Sullivan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that between jumps 10 and 11 he steered his mount to the right of a direction post and reacted too late to switch back to the correct course without coming to a halt
The Stewards enquired into the failure of P.J. Rothwell to declare a 5lb penalty as required by Rule 194(ii)(a) for his charge Singing Banjo following his win here at Punchestown two days ago. P.J. Rothwell accepted that he had failed in his responsibity to comply with the relevent rule. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that P.J. Rothwell was in breach of Rule 194 (ii)(a) and fined him €200 having taken his clean previous record into consideration
S.W. Flanagan, rider of Ballyboker Bridge trained by Peter Maher, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount slipped up independently.
