She was always knocking on the door about doing something like that and had a good run the last day. It looked a good opportunity today and I'm delighted to win with her. She'll run in something similar next and we won't be getting too excited yet. Shane Crawley, trainer
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Aunty Audrey, ridden by J.S. McGarvey, and trained by Patrick J.Flynn. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. J.S. McGarvey, stated that his mount is a very difficult type to settle and was wearing a hood today in an attempt to address this. He added that he was unseated prior to the start on her previous run and with this in mind his instructions were to settle his mount as early as possible, to give her plenty of light and to do the best he could. He said his mount took time to settle but jumped well throughout, travelled well early on but came off the bridle going up the hill on the final circuit. He said his mount ran on again down the hill and collided with another runner in the closing stages when laying down his challenge, in what he felt was a sign of greenness. He added that his mount stayed on strong in the closing stages and achieved her best possible position without having to use his whip. Patrick J.Flynn confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He outlined the difficulties settling this mare and stated that she wears a hood at home in an attempt to get her to relax. He further added that it was his intention to run her over both codes as she has won twice on the flat. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that Aunty Audrey had a slight wound on the right hind fetlock, but was otherwise post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
