The Stewards interviewed Paul John Gilligan, trainer, of Fruits Of Molly, concerning the fact that the vaccinations contained in the Passport for this horse were incorrect for the second successive occasion. In accordance with Rule 90 the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Fruits Of Molly and fined the trainer €200 The Stewards fined M.F.Morris, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Belushed, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order. P.T. Enright, rider of Borussia, trained by Augustine Leahy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran keenly early on but emptied after the third last hurdle. D.N. Russell, rider of Lily Rock, trained by Miss Mary Louise Hallahan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in the latter stages of this race. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Lake Field, trained by Noel Brett, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Lake Field, ridden by D.G. Hogan, and trained by Noel Brett. Evidence was heard from the trainers representative and rider concerned. Pat Brett, authorised representative for Noel Brett, trainer, stated that this animal was having his second race today having disappointed on his debut at Gowran Park when jumping poorly throughout. Today he instructed the rider to ride the animal close to the pace, make the best of his way home and do not be excessive with the whip as this animal was a bridle horse. He was of the opinion that his animal jumped moderately today and gave a heave after the turn into the straight before finishing in his best possible placing. He was satisfied with the ride. D.G. Hogan, rider, stated that he jumped off a bit handier than expected and again today his mount jumped poorly. He added that the animal emptied from before the turn into the straight and from that point he held him together for one final attempt to pass the fourth placed horse but was unable to do so from the final hurdle. He expressed an opinion that apart from the first three placed horses that this race was possibly a weak contest and his own mount did his best when on the bridle. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Lake Field was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered and further advised D.G. Hogan to make a greater effort in his riding in the future.
