Mike Smith’s explanation that Earn Your Stripes (GB) was suited by the application of first time cheekpieces and in hindsight may not have faced the blinkers on it’s previous run was noted.

Following the race, Andrew Breslin reported that Claret Club (GB), unplaced, moved poorly.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination revealed the gelding to have knocked it’s left fore joint.
