An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving Dr Lockdown (IRE), placed second, ridden by Max Kendrick; the winner, General Hubble (IRE), ridden by Ciaran Gethings; Masterdream (FR), placed fifth, ridden by Dylan Whelan and Diamond Twin (FR), placed third, ridden by Harry Skelton.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Dr Lockdown (IRE)’s placing in relation to Diamond Twin (FR) as, having jumped the final flight Diamond Twin (FR) was steadily gaining ground on Dr Lockdown (IRE) before being carried left off its intended line from approximately a furlong out and ultimately receiving a bump shortly before the line causing it to become unbalanced and go from being a closing neck down to finish third beaten by half a length.
They therefore revised the placings as follows: First General Hubble (IRE); Second Diamond Twin (FR); Third Dr Lockdown (IRE); Fourth Poppop (FR).
Kendrick was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed across the track for a considerable distance without sufficient correction, firstly carrying Whelan off his intended line and having to switch right- handed across heels, then carrying Skelton off his intended line giving him a bump and unbalancing him, whilst in the process becoming unbalanced himself, catching the quarters of Gethings shortly before the line.
