Permission was given for Mon Port (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and to go early to post.
Mon Port (IRE), trained by Jake Coulson, ran without its declared tongue-strap as connections had been unable to fit it whilst saddling.
The trainer subsequently reported that Mon Port (IRE)’s performance was not affected by running without its declared tongue-strap.
The Starter reported that Sheeza Legend (GB), had been unruly down at the start, refusing to line up and was subsequently withdrawn at 12:51pm.
Emma-Jane Bishop was interviewed and shown recordings of the start.
Bishop was informed that any future similar behaviour from the mare may result in the horse being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
The winner Man Of The North (GB), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Ludlow on 2 December 2020 where the gelding finished sixth of twelve runners, beaten by 38 lengths.
The representative of Tony Carroll explained that Man Of The North (GB) is a quirky sort and may have appreciated the Heavy going on this occasion.
Their explanation was noted and the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Richie McLernon reported that Go As You Please (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities and Jamie Hamilton reported that Frankie Ballou (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Snougar (IRE), placed third, lost its left-hind shoe.
