It was noted that the representative of Sue Smith could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance, other than VALENCE D’AUMONT (FR) appeared to have been unsuited by the rain softened Good to Soft, Good in places ground on his return from a 125 day absence.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Bridget Andrews reported that Crooks Peak (GB), which started favourite and finished third, hung and jumped right-handed throughout.
