Permission was given for So Scottish (FR) to wear a red hood to the start.
Shortly after the start, a free running Swapped (FR), placed second, made slight contact with Estacas (GER), placed third, causing the gelding to become unbalanced and shift back into Swapped (FR).
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference rounding the first bend involving the winner, Our Jester (GB), ridden by Tom O’Brien, Hurricane Deal (FR), unplaced, ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies, Swapped (FR), placed second, ridden by Nico De Boinville, Estacas (GER), placed third, ridden by Jamie Moore, and So Scottish (FR), placed fourth, ridden by Alain Cawley.
O’Brien was suspended for 5 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to shift left-handed rounding the bend leaving insufficient room for those on his inside, resulting in Twiston-Davies, De Boinville and Moore to be tightened for room, which consequently caused Cawley to take a considerable check on the rail and lose his early position.
Racing down the hill on the second circuit in a well bunched field, All About Logan (GB), unplaced, ridden by James Best was awkwardly placed between Estacas (GER), placed second, ridden by Jamie Moore and Hurricane Deal (FR), unplaced, ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies, which resulted in the gelding being tightened for room and clipping heels.
Having seen the available views of the incident, the Stewards were unable to proportion blame to any individual horse or rider.
Inside the final furlong, Gentle Fire (GB), unplaced, shifted quickly right causing ALL ABOOUT LOGAN, unplaced, to be momentarily eased and switched to continue its run.
