The Veterinary Officer reported that Codeshare (GB), trained by Peter Bowen, appeared to show evidence of possible administration of a substance on the left side of its neck on the jugular vein.
The Trainer’s representative, the Veterinary Officer and the Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer were interviewed.
As the Stewards could not be satisfied that Codeshare (GB) had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of the race, they withdrew Codeshare (GB) and ordered the gelding to be routine tested.
They referred the matter to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Saga Succes (FR) was kicked by another runner at the start.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the mare was deemed fit to race.
Following the race, Lee Edwards reported that Champagne Mist (IRE), unplaced, hung badly left- handed.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
