Leaving the stalls Another Investment (IRE), placed second, jumped left-handed and tightened up Giewont (IRE), placed seventh, for racing room before a short distance later Melayu Kingdom (IRE), placed third, edged right-handed further hampering Giewont (IRE) which lost its early position as a result, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of either Another Investment (IRE) or Melayu Kingdom (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving the winner, Roman Dragon (GB), ridden by Pierre-Louis Jamin, and Another Investment (IRE), placed second, ridden by P J McDonald.
Jamin was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to edge left-handed briefly without being fully clear of Another Investment (IRE), causing McDonald to take a slight check.
The performance of Wonderful World (GB), which started joint-favourite and finished sixth, was considered.
