Permission was given for Pinnata (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start and for Kaser (IRE) to wear a hood in the parade ring only.
Approximately 1½ furlongs out, Via Serendipity (GB), unplaced, hung quickly left-handed before being corrected by its rider, causing Kasbaan (GB), unplaced, to be tightened for room on the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
At the 1 furlong marker, Fox Power (IRE), placed fourth, hung right-handed despite the best efforts of its rider to correct the colt, causing Nonios (IRE), placed third, to be checked in its run, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Via Serendipity (GB) which finished unplaced, was considered.
Stuart Williams explained that the race had not been run to suit on this occasion with the gelding having to make the running after being trapped wide going into the first bend.
He further added that Via Serendipity (GB) was unsuited by being taken on from 4 furlongs out under his top weight; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities other than he had lost both his right- fore and right-hind shoes.
