Permission was given for Maid In Manhattan (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner Young Bull (IRE), ridden by Page Fuller, interfered with Maid In Manhattan (IRE), ridden by Nathan Moscrop.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Young Bull’s (IRE) placing as the interference was minimal and the gelding was always holding Maid In Manhattan (IRE), with the official winning distance being 1 length.
Fuller was cautioned for careless riding as she allowed her mount to drift left-handed without sufficient correction causing Maid In Manhattan (IRE) to be taken off its intended line.
Mr Noel George the rider of Oscar Robertson (IRE), placed fourth, had appeared to drop his hands and stop riding shortly before the winning post.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Mr George was suspended for 10 days, on dates to be notified to him by the British Horseracing Authority for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing on a horse that would have finished third.
Being a 7lb claimer George was offered to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
