The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Irish Chief (USA), trained by A.P.O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
The Stewards requested a report from D. K. Weld, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Tashgheel, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Sliog on the 2nd May when making its seasonal debut. Patrick O'Brien, Authorised representative for D.K. Weld, reported that their charge had raced with the early pace at Sligo from a bad draw and never acted on the track. Today the blinkers worn at Sligo were replaced with a visor and a change of riding tactics were also applied. In his opinion these were contributing factors to today's success. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
