Shortly after passing the winning line with two circuits to run Coillte Eile (IRE), placed fourth, brushed the running rail causing the mare to become badly unbalanced.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the bend leaving the back straight involving the winner SHOT BOLL (IRE), ridden by Fergus Gillard; The Late Legend (GB), unplaced, ridden by Luke Scott and William Philo (GB), placed second, ridden by Stan Sheppard.
The interference was found to be accidental as The Late Legend (GB) had been tightened up for racing room between runners due to William Philo (GB) edging slightly left-handed at the same time as SHOT BOLL (IRE) had to be shifted right- handed from an unrailed section of the course, in order to meet the configuration of the bend.
The Stewards noted that there was interference for a sustained period between the second last and last hurdles when Secret Trix (GB), placed third, edged slightly right-handed as the rider of William Philo (GB), placed second, rode competitively in order to maintain his racing line, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced after making contact on several occasions.
However, after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved, and it had not improved the placing of William Philo (GB).
Stan Sheppard the rider of William Philo (GB), placed second, was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above permitted level from approaching 4 furlongs out.
