Gabrial The One (IRE), trained by Richard Fahey, finished third at Chester the previous day.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a pre-race examination deemed the gelding fit to race.
The winner, Cape Islay (FR), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Haydock Park on 7 June 2019 where the filly finished sixth of eight, beaten by 18½ lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Mark Johnston could offer no explanation for Cape Islay (FR)’s improved form.
The filly was routine tested.
Following the race, Josephine Gordon reported that James Park Woods (IRE), which started joint- second favourite and finished sixth, was never travelling; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Paddy Mathers reported that Gabrial The One (IRE), which started favourite and finished fifth, hung left-handed.
