The Stewards interviewed Mr P.F. Casey after receiving a report from Mr W. Fleming, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales stating he attempted to weigh out for his ride on Present Flower with a back protector which was missing it's crotch strap. Evidence was heard for from the rider concerned, who admitted the crotch strap was missing but said this was an oversight rather than an attempt to deceive the Clerk of the Scales. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion Mr P.F. Casey was in breach of Rule 198 and Regulation 10 and having considered his record, the Stewards suspended him for 7 days.
