Permission was given for Sterling Knight (GB) to wear a red hood to post and for Seven Brothers to go to post early.
Race 5 - 7:15pm.
THE SKY SPORTS RACING SKY 415 HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) Permission was given for LUNAR JET, DEFENCE TREATY (IRE) and BAY OF NAPLES to wear a red hood to post.
Paul Hanagan, the rider of DEFENCE TREATY (IRE), was unseated leaving the stalls.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no other horse or rider was involved and the gelding had anticipated the start, dropping its head which badly unbalanced Hanagan, who was subsequently unseated several strides later.
Having reviewed the start, the Stewards were satisfied that DEFENCE TREATY (IRE) unseated its rider after the start had been effected and was therefore deemed to be a runner.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2½ furlongs out, involving DIVINE COMEDY, placed third, ridden by Pat Cosgrave, and BAY OF NAPLES (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Tom Eaves.
Cosgrave was cautioned for careless riding as he had angled his mount left-handed without being fully clear of a weakening BAY OF NAPLES (IRE), which was briefly hampered.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 2 furlongs out, involving, DAS KAPITAL, placed second, ridden by Jimmy Quinn, DIVINE COMEDY (IRE), placed third, ridden by Pat Cosgrave and SULOCHANA (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Charles Bishop.
Quinn was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he edged his mount right-handed when insufficiently clear of DIVINE COMEDY (IRE), which was crowded for racing room and in turn tightened up SULOCHANA (IRE) on its outside.
The performance of DOWN TO THE KID (IRE), which started third favourite and finished thirteenth of fourteen runners, beaten 49¼ lengths, was considered.
The representative of Ivan Furtado could offer no explanation for the gelding's run, other than it appeared to have been unsuited by the going which was officially described as Soft, Good to Soft in places on this occasion and DOWN TO THE KID (IRE) would prefer a quicker surface.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Dale Swift reported that EYE KNEE, unplaced, hung badly left-handed.
