Harrington wins another juvenile fillies maiden
Another nice performance from another filly. She's nice and we liked her at home. She hadn't been to a barrier trial or anything. She didn't come into me until quite late, in April, but she's just a nice filly and she's been doing everything right. She's a very good looking filly. She's related to Plinth so she'll stay and she's also a half-sister to a Group 1 two-miler in Australia. She's a lovely big filly. She didn't really know what to do when Tom pulled her out but she was good. I'd say there'll be a lot more to come. Probably the good ground today might have helped her a bit.
Travelwise follows up under a penalty
We're delighted with him and he's a progressive horse. He has loads of pace and he'd nearly win over six and he'd win over a mile-and-one as well. He seems to be a very nice horse. He just got there too soon, he travelled too well for him, but he only won by half a length at the end. I won't go to Galway with him. He's wants a better cut in the ground than that, it was a bit fast for him today. It's nice ground but just a bit fast for him.
McCann gets welcome winner with super sub Ryan
I can't thank my owners enough as the horses were very sick for nine weeks and everyone of them stuck by me. A big thanks to all of them and the support they gave me through tough times. A big thanks to Patrick McCann and to Rita Shah who supported me through it. It's great for this wee filly. We always thought a lot of her. She was fit to win off that mark. Her run, when she was drawn 17 at Fairyhouse, was a good run. Hopefully we can get into a race in Galway next week. We'll see if there is a race there for her.
Red-hot Harrington shares 34/1 double with Madden
It's about time! She's been placed 11 times in 13 runs, it's really rather staggering. She did that well today. She had a wind op before her last run and it seems to have worked. She was just putting her head up a little bit. It's great and Gerry (Byrne, owner) has been very very patient. Most people would have given up but she's got her head in front now and it's brilliant. She's actually up 3lb since her last run, for finishing second. It's great for Tom as well.
A Few Bob Short gains deserved win after 7 months break
He deserved it, he's a long time trying. I didn't think he'd do it first time out, I thought he'd maybe need the run but he's tough and he's solid. He's been a dream, frustrating, but it's great to have the like of him. You can depend on him, he's limited but he tries his heart out. That could crucify him, that's what he is and any few pounds will inconvenience him but we'll see. Hopefully he might improve a little bit. We'll bring him home and mind him and then see where we go.
Cody opens Flat account with Lady Olenna
She deserved it, her form was there in the book. Everything in around her has won since. She's in a Group 3 at Cork (Give Thanks Stakes) in the middle of August. The owners are mad keen to give her a go at a bit of black-type. That's where she'll go next. I think she is a filly that is getting better with racing. She's a big raw filly and I think her best days are ahead of her.
Coen doubles up on Shamad
I'm delighted to win with him for Fergal (O'Neill) who is the main man in Direct Bloodstock. I bought him over in Newmarket and he came down to the yard and took the horse off me. He has a lot of horses in training but it's his first winner in Ireland today. He had a winner a couple of weeks ago with Dan Skelton. He'll tip away during the summer and he has a nice mark over hurdles. He'll mix it after a while. He's been plenty busy but he goes on nice ground. He's a fine looking horse and he's actually a great jumper. The whole thing was if we were lucky enough to win with him on the Flat we'd head on over hurdles. More than likely we'll head on over hurdles now and see what happens.
Long Arm looks promising as Keane records 14/1 double
He's a nice horse and obviously the pedigree speaks for itself. As you can see he's very much a work in progress. We expect him to be a 12 furlong horse in time. They didn't go much of a gallop there and you could see the greenness. It's not ideal beating yourself but that's life and I've given the other horse plenty of chances. It was a nice race to start this horse in. He's handled the ground, Steph likes soft. He's always been good and honest at home. I'd like to think he has a nice future ahead of him but he's one that we won't kill at three. We just have to look after him and go gently gently but it's a good start.
