The winner, Look Closely (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newmarket on 5 June 2020 where the gelding finished ninth of twelve, beaten by 15¾ lengths.
Roger Varian’s explanation that Look Closely (GB) had appreciated the return to a less undulating track was noted.

Leaving the stalls, Mankayan (IRE), placed second, jumped right-handed, causing Media Storm (GB), unplaced, Edinburgh Castle (IRE), placed third, and Sandret (IRE), unplaced, to all be hampered, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Mankayan (IRE).
