Permission was given for Wath Court (GB) and Oceana Orange (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
God Bless America (GB) was kicked at the start.
Having been checked at the start by the Veterinary Surgeon, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held to consider interference which occurred over some distance rounding the bend leaving the back straight involving, Musical Masquerade (GB), unplaced, ridden by Lewis Chalkley; Normandy Vista (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Joe Fanning and Scottish Breeze (IRE), unplaced, ridden by David Probert.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Chalkley was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
The interference was found to be accidental as Probert had tried to improve his position to the inside of Normandy Vista (IRE), however his mount commenced to race greenly after receiving some slight pressure from his outside, which caused his mount to shift left and make contact with Musical Masquerade (GB) on several occasions.
From this point Normandy Vista (IRE) was lugging left-handed despite Fanning’s efforts to correct the colt which left both Scottish Breeze (IRE) and Musical Masquerade (GB) racing in restricted room to his inside and again resulted in them making contact on several occasions unbalancing both runners.
Approaching six and a half furlongs out, Scottish Breeze (IRE), unplaced, had to be checked off the heels of the winner, Mr Swivell (GB), after being crossed by that runner which then steadied the pace.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Mr Swivell (GB).
Following the race, Alex Jary reported that Wath Court (GB), placed fourth, hung right-handed and ran green.
