Top weight Golden Empire was an impressive winner of this contest under Barry Cash and it was clear that connections think a lot of the seven-year-old who was disappointing on his first two runs of this campaign but sparked back to life her in good style. Trainer Andrew Heffernan was not overly surprised after despite his SP of 16/1 and connections are looking forward to better ground for their next assault.
Barry Cash had his mount up with the pace from flag fall and looked to have plenty of horse to work with at the third last where he was joined by Billy To Jack and Powerberry who all looked to have a chance.
Mistakes at the third last and second last flights ruined any chance Powerberry had of landing a blow but it was unlikely he would have challenged the winner.
Killeaney was another who was on the scene at that stage having been given a very patient ride by Philip Carberry and he stayed on well to finish three and a half lengths off the winner. A similar event should see John Carr hit the target with this one.
Billy To Jack jumped well throughout at the rear of mid division but trying two and a half miles for the first time on tacky ground and two and a quarter would look ideal.
Rossbeigh was another whose mistake at the second last caused him a better placing and Tous Les Tables travelled well for a long way at Gowran Park last time before keeping on at one pace. It was a similar story today and he finished a long way back in 12th ? two mile and better ground would appear to bring the best out of him.
Just 26 went to post with Good Fella pulled out by Patrick Mooney as he was off feed, Back To Square One and Ballyadam Lee both had stone bruise's while Symboli Bay was lame.
Clover Pearl the 6/1 joint favourite who finished 19th was examined by the Turf Club vet and found to be Post Race Normal.
