The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the last 100 yards involving Chillie Billie (GB), ridden by R. Coakley, placed first, So Sensible, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed fourth and Sister Slew, ridden by R. P. Downey, placed second, where it appeared So Sensible ran short of room and was forced to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings. They did however find R. Coakley in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his record into account, suspended him for two race days. The Stewards further found R. P. Downey in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his record into account suspended him for two race days. . C. D. Hayes, rider of Clocked, trained by A.J.Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped awkwardly from the gate.
