Due to an incident in the starting stalls involving Bad At Bay (GB) and the gelding having to receive immediate veterinary treatment, the race was started with a flip start approximately 30 yards in front of where the starting stalls were originally positioned.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately half a furlong out when the winner Elmejor (IRE), ridden by Kieran O’Neill interfered with Lexington Dash (FR), placed second, ridden by Ben Curtis.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Elmejor (IRE) as Lexington Dash (FR) appeared to lose little momentum as a result of the interference and Elmejor (IRE) always appeared to be holding Lexington Dash (FR), with the official distance between the runners at the line a head.
O’Neill was cautioned for careless riding for allowing his mount to drift left-handed without timely correction intimidating Lexington Dash (FR) slightly off its intended line.
