Robin Brisland was informed that the mare could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
As it was the second occasion within the previous 12 months that Zafaranah (USA) had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the mare would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
Just inside the four-furlong marker LIAM’S LASS (IRE), placed fifth, lugged left-handed despite the rider’s best efforts, badly crowding Defilade (GB), placed second, for several strides but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Ciaran McKee reported that Pips Tune (GB), placed eighth, was unsettled in the stalls and slowly away.
Louis Steward reported that Phlegon (IRE), unplaced, moved poorly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding found it to be suffering from an irregular heartbeat.
