Permission was given for Gurkha Friend (GB) and Michele Strogoff (GB) to go early to post and Illustrissime (USA) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching the final half furlong when the winner, Salute The Soldier (GER), ridden by Adam Kirby, interfered with Executive Force (GB), placed second, ridden by Franny Norton.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Salute The Soldier (GER)’s placing as Executive Force (GB) had to be checked for a number of strides, causing a loss of momentum, before making ground on the run to the line to be beaten a nose, and revised the placings as follows: First, Executive Force (GB), Second, Salute The Soldier (GER), Third, Gurkha Friend (GB).
The interference was found to be accidental as Salute The Soldier (GER) had drifted sharply right-handed, before being quickly corrected by its rider, and then shifted left-handed away from the whip, causing interference to Executive Force (GB).
Following the race, Jason Hart reported that Gurkha Friend (GB), placed third, hung right-handed in the home straight.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Mythical Madness (GB), placed fifth, sustained a wound to its left fore.
