Permission was given for Blue Prince (IRE) to go early to the start wearing a red hood and for Purefoy (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.

The Starter reported that Witness Stand (GB) was the subject of a third criteria failure.

Tom Clover was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving TERRABB (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Callum Shepherd, Misemerald (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Richard Oliver, Sailthisshipalone (GB), placed sixth, ridden by Ryan Sexton, and Brunel Nation (FR), unplaced, ridden by Finley Marsh.

The stewards deemed there to be two incidents of interference, albeit that they were closely intertwined.

In the first incident, Marsh was suspended for 4 days for careless riding for allowing his mount to edge slightly left-handed towards the rail over a period of time without correction in the belief that there was only one horse to his inside, which resulted in TERRABB (IRE), who was the horse that he was unaware of, running out of room on the rail.

A further result of this was for both TERRABB (IRE) and Misemerald (IRE) to become significantly unbalanced and for TERRABB (IRE) to be checked and to lose its position.

In the second incident, Sexton was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he moved his mount sharply left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of Brunel Nation (FR) causing Marsh to take a check and further hampering the already unbalanced Misemerald (IRE) to the inside.

The Stewards noted that turning in Princess Alex (GB), placed eighth, appeared to clip the heel of Expert Choice (GB), placed fifth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Inside the final furlong, Expert Choice (GB), placed fifth, shifted left-handed at the same time as its rider changed their whip hand resulting in Monfrid (FR), unplaced, having to be eased, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Expert Choice (GB).

On the run to the line, the winner, Love Billy Boy (IRE) drifted slightly left-handed away from the whip before being quickly corrected taking Misemerald (IRE), placed fourth, onto Sailthisshipalone (GB), placed sixth, which in turn caused Teraabb (IRE), placed seventh, on the rail to become short of room and it’s rider having to take a check and stop riding through to the line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Love Billy Boy (IRE).

The performance of Witness Stand (GB), which finished unplaced, beaten by 19¾ lengths, was considered.

Tom Clover’s explanation that the gelding was unsuited by being unable to get a prominent position having suffered slight interference from a wide draw early on and as a result never travelled thereafter was noted.

Following the race, Ryan Sexton reported that Sailthisshipalone (GB), placed sixth, suffered interference inside the final furlong.
