Permission was given for Corazonada (IRE) and Flying Dragon (FR) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only and Bug Boy (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted on the course.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the ½ furlong marker when Super Superjack (GB), placed second, ridden by Tyler Heard, interfered with Flying Dragon (FR), placed third, ridden by Saffie Osborne.
Heard was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed Super Superjack (GB) to drift left-handed without timely correction, causing Flying Dragon (FR) to be intimidated off its intended line.
The winner, Steel An Icon (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 29 July 2021 where the filly finished tenth of twelve, beaten by 11¼ lengths.
Mick Channon’s representative’s explanation that Steel An Icon (GB) benefited from the drop in class to a Class 5, having previously contested a Class 3, was noted.
Steel An Icon (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Callum Hutchinson reported that Bug Boy (IRE), unplaced, ran too freely.
