An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Eltham Palace (GB), ridden by Liam Keniry and trained by David Simcock, which raced in mid-division before looking to improve his position down the hill and then staying on in the straight, under apparent tender handling, to finish sixth of ten, beaten by 7¾ lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The rider stated that his instructions were to settle the filly, which he was able to do after jumping well and being able to obtain cover early on.
He continued that he improved his position down the hill from behind a weakening Tackleslikeaferret (IRE) and that on reaching the straight the filly, in his opinion, was one-paced and did not pick up having used the whip.
He further added that, in his opinion, he felt that Eltham Palace (GB) would benefit from a return to a longer trip.
Keniry’s explanation was noted.
Following the race, Ryan Tate reported that Solent Scene (GB), unplaced, was slowly away and the Veterinary Officer reported that Top Drop (IRE), unplaced, had bled from the nose.
