Jumping the third fence, Uncle O (GB), unplaced, jumped right on take-off carrying Trumps Benefit (IRE), placed third, right-handed, which in turn bumped Captain Cobajay (IRE), placed seventh, on landing, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approaching the second last fence, the winner, Obey The Rules (IRE), shifted right at the same time as Trumps Benefit (IRE), placed third, shifted left resulting in Serjeant Painter (GB), placed second, being crowded for room between the two runners, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Obey The Rules (IRE).
The winner, Obey The Rules (IRE), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Worcester on 20 May 2022, where the gelding finished fifth of eight, beaten 37¼ lengths.
Donald McCain’s representative could offer no explanation for Obey The Rules (IRE)’s improved form.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that The Garrison (IRE), placed fifth, lost its left hind shoe.
