Permission was given for Stone Of Destiny (GB) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only and for Konchek (GB) and A Momentofmadness (GB) to wear red hoods to the start; A Momentofmadness (GB) also has permission to go early to post.
Konchek (GB) collided with the running rail leaving the Parade Ring.
Having been checked by a Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Dane O’Neill, the rider of A Momentofmadness (GB), was marginally slow to remove the blindfold, but as the gelding jumped on terms with the other runners, no further action was taken.
Leaving the stalls, Konchek (GB), unplaced, jumped right carrying Royal Residence (GB), unplaced, and Saluti (IRE), unplaced, to the right causing them to bump.
This in turn caused Danzeno (GB), placed second; Barbill (IRE), placed sixth, and Ginger Jam (GB), unplaced, to be cramped for galloping room and lose ground, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approximately 1½ furlongs out, Yimou (IRE), placed third, edged left at the same time as Konchek (GB), unplaced, edged right, resulting in Arecibo (FR), placed fourth, and Meraas (GB), unplaced, coming together and becoming unbalanced and in turn tighten a weakening Justanotherbottle (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Yimou (IRE) or Arecibo (FR).
Following the race, Kevin Stott reported that Justanotherbottle (IRE), unplaced, hung left and Adam Kirby reported that Konchek (GB), unplaced, hung right.
