An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference in the final ½ furlong when the winner Showhound (GB), ridden by Jack Garritty, interfered with Curious Rover (IRE), placed second, ridden by Andrew Mullen.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Showhound (GB) as although the gelding had made contact with Curious Rover (IRE) and taken it off its intended line, Mullen at no point had to stop riding as a result.
It was also taken into account that shortly after the interference had taken place both runners returned to be upsides before Showhound (GB) ran on strongly to hold Curious Rover (IRE) to an extending neck margin at the winning line.
The Stewards were unable to be satisfied that had the interference not occurred that Curious Rover (IRE) would have finished in front of Showhound (GB) and ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental as Showhound (GB) had ducked sharply left despite Garrity’s best efforts to straighten the gelding.
Following the race, Ben Robinson reported that Flocon (GB), unplaced, hung left throughout.
