The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the last fifty yards involving Octavia, ridden by C.R. King, placed third and Northern Surprise, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed first, where it appeared Octavia ran short of room on the rails. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings. The Stewards however found W.J. Lee in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his record into account they severely cautioned him. R. Coakley, rider of Annie Irish, trained by Miss Elizabeth Doyle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost its action from the two furlong pole. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Annie Irish, trained by Miss Elizabeth Doyle, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race. K.J. Manning, rider of Snap Click, trained by J.T.Gorman, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount failed to pick up after turning in and was eased but ran on late.
