Permission was given for Gretna Dreams (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after two incidents of interference from approaching the final furlong, involving the dead heat winners, Keep Singing (IRE), ridden by Kieran O'Neill and Gretna Dreams (IRE), ridden by Ray Dawson.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Keep Singing (IRE)’s placing as in the first incident near the 1 furlong marker it had shifted right-handed away from the whip before being quickly corrected by O’Neill intimidating Gretna Dreams (IRE) wider off its intended line, before in the second incident inside the final half furlong the filly had hung right-handed into the whip thereby carrying Gretna Dreams (IRE) off its intended line again.
The Stewards held the view that Gretna Dreams (IRE) had been impeded by Keep Singing (IRE) on two occasions in the home straight, and despite this had closed the margin down all the way to the line to force a dead-heat, and felt with an uninterrupted passage Gretna Dreams (IRE) would have finished ahead of Keep Singing (IRE), therefore ordering the placings to be revised as follows: First - Gretna Dreams (IRE), Second - Keep Singing (IRE), Third - Claim To Glory (IRE), Fourth - Greek Gift (IRE).
O’Neill was cautioned for careless riding as he failed to take sufficient steps to correct his mount from hanging right-handed in the second incident moving Gretna Dreams (IRE) wider off its intended racing line.
The winner, Gretna Dreams (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Kempton, on 20 August 2024, where the filly finished seventh of nine, beaten by 26¾ lengths.
Simon Pearce’s explanation that the filly benefited from a step up in trip, from 1 mile, and less competitive company on this occasion, was noted.
Gretna Dreams (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Kieran O’Neill reported that Keep Singing (IRE), placed second, hung right-handed.
