An enquiry was held into the riding of Heavenly Heather (GB), ridden by Tom Eaves and trained by Tracy Waggott, which was dropped in towards the rear of the field to make progress to the furlong marker to then be ridden out to the line to finish fifth of the five runners.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer examined Heavenly Heather (GB) post-race and had nothing to report.
The rider stated that his instructions were to drop the filly in early, as she was stepping up in distance to the one mile for her first time, with a view to get Heavenly Heather (GB) to settle and stay the trip knowing this was her first run over the increased distance.
Eaves stated that Heavenly Heather (GB) took a fairly keen hold through the early stages of the slowly run race, and his focus was to keep her held together and to move into the race gradually.
He added that the filly found very little when asked for an effort, and that he had suggested to the trainer that Heavenly Heather (GB) would benefit by being dropped back in trip to seven furlongs going forward.
His explanation was noted.
