I'd say the odd one I missed was probably due to being on her own in front. If I'd had company, she would have been perfect. She handled the ground this evening which is fairly lively out there. Hopefully she'll build on that and find a nice novice (hurdle) somewhere in the autumn. W P Mullins, trainer
P.T. Enright, rider of Champagne Trail trained by T.J. O'Mara, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made a bad mistake two out
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Estepona Sun (GB), ridden by P. Byrnes, and trained by C.Byrnes. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. P. Byrnes, stated that his instructions were to line up in fifth or sixth, get settled as his mount does not fully see out the 2m trip. In the race he jumped off as planned, settled into a rhythm, missed a few hurdles down the back and stayed on one-paced in the straight
C.Byrnes, confirmed the instructions given to the rider and expressed his satisfaction with the ride given. He stated that the horse was ridden to get the trip and is an in and out performer. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Estepona Sun (GB) was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations given.
