An enquiry was held to consider why Iain Jardine was running Something Brewing (FR) here at Hexham, on going described as Good, Good to Firm in places, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Sedgefield on 29 August on ground with the same official description.
The trainer’s representative stated that having walked the track, in their opinion the ground at Hexham had been well watered and they were happy for the gelding to run on this occasion.
Following the race, Ross Chapman reported that Something Brewing (FR), which was pulled up, was hampered by the faller at hurdle 6 and was never travelling thereafter.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Craig Star (IRE), placed fourth, finished with a wound left hind.
