Permission was given for Maple Jack (GB), Water Of Leith (IRE) and Elladora (GB) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving Sixcor (GB), placed third, ridden by Harry Russell and Sir Benedict (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Shane Gray.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Sixcor (GB) as although Sir Benedict (IRE) had been taken off it’s intended line, no momentum or ground was lost with the finishing distance being ½ length.
Russell was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed Sixcor (GB) to drift left without sufficient correction, taking Sir Benedict (IRE) off its intended line.
The performance of Elladora (GB), which finished unplaced, was considered.
Jason Hart reported that the filly hung left throughout, and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
An enquiry was held, adjourned from Ayr on Monday 25 July 2022, into the use of the whip by Andrew Mullen, the rider of ST ANDREW’S CASTLE (IRE), unplaced.
Having heard his evidence, Mullen was suspended for 2 days for using his whip without time to respond inside the final 2 furlongs.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Cowboy Soldier (IRE), unplaced, lost its left hind shoe.
