Permission was given for Tundra (GER) to wear a red hood to post.
Pearly Prince (GB) unseated Oisin Murphy on the way to the start, before being quickly caught after cantering approximately 1 furlong loose.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and the Doctor at the start, both the gelding and rider were deemed fit to race.
Upon leaving the stalls, Galidermes (FR), placed second, jumped slightly right-handed at the same time that Jeddeyd (IRE), placed fifth, jumped left-handed, resulting in the winner, Diamond Jill (IRE), being inconvenienced and Pearly Prince (GB), placed third, which had been slowly into stride then being tightened for racing room and losing further ground, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Galidermes (FR).
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 1 furlong after the start involving Galidermes (FR), placed second, ridden by Joanna Mason and Mostaqqer (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Ray Dawson.
Dawson was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to edge left-handed, towards the rail, when insufficiently clear of Galidermes (FR), causing Mason to take a slight check.
The winner, Diamond Jill (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Nottingham on 7 May 2021 where the filly finished twelfth of fifteen runners, beaten by 9¾ lengths.
Sarah Hollinshead explained that Diamond Jill had appreciated returning to a small field on this occasion, where she could avoid racing on the inside of other horses, after having been drawn in stall 1 on its previous run.
Her explanation was noted, and the filly was routine tested.
The performance of Tundra (GER), which finished last of seven runners, was considered.
The representative of David Evans could offer no explanation for the mare’s performance, other than she appeared to have ran flat on this occasion.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Tundra (GER), failed to reveal any visible abnormalities.
Following the race, Oisin Murphy reported that Pearly Prince (GB), placed third, was denied a clear run for a considerable distance in the home straight, until near the ½ furlong marker.
