Permission was given for Perfect Soldier (IRE) to go to post early.
The winner Hildenley (GB) appeared to show an improvement in form, compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 26 August 2021, where the gelding finished fourth of nine beaten 9½ lengths.
Tim Easterby’s representative explained that the gelding may have benefitted from what in their opinion was a weaker race on this occasion and the return to softer ground.
His explanation was noted and Hildenley (GB) was routine tested.
An enquiry was held to consider interference 3 furlongs when the winner Hildenley (GB), ridden by David Allan, interfered with Shine On Brendan (IRE), placed third, ridden by Paul Mulrennan and Perfect Soldier (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Jason Hart.
Allan was cautioned for careless riding as he had edged slightly right moving Shine On Brendan (IRE) slightly off its intended line and causing the rider of Perfect Soldier (IRE) to take a slight check on the rail.
1½ furlongs out, Shine On Brendan (IRE), placed third, shifted left and gave a bump to Bawaader (IRE), placed second.
However, after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Paul Mulrennan reported that Shine On Brendan (IRE), placed third, hung both ways under pressure.
