Permission was given for Inviolable Spirit (IRE) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching the final furlong when Dirchill (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Clifford Lee interfered with Choice Encounter (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Daniel Tudhope.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Dirchill (IRE)’s placing as Dirchill (IRE) had taken Choice Encounter (GB) off its intended line for several strides, causing Tudhope to switch losing momentum before finishing strongly to be beaten ½ length and revised the placings as follows: Choice Encounter (GB), placed fourth and Dirchill (IRE), placed fifth.
Lee was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to hang left without correction, causing interference to Choice Encounter (GB).
Approaching the line, the winner, Martineo (GB) hung quickly left, causing slight interference to Lucky Lodge (GB), placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Martineo (GB).
The performance of Inaam (IRE) which finished unplaced, was considered.
John Butler could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Inaam (IRE), during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Clifford Lee reported that Dirchill (IRE), placed fifth, hung left.
