The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Empire Line, ridden by M.P. O'Connor, placed third, Nitro Boost, ridden by N.M. Crosse, placed first, Cityman (GB), ridden by K.J
Leonard, placed second and Hammersmith, ridden by L.F. Roche, placed fourth, where it appeared that Nitro Boost drifted left causing Empire Line, Cityman and Hammersmith to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Nitro Boost did not improve his placing by causing interference and they therefore made no alteration to the Judge's placings. The Stewards did, however, advise N.M. Crosse to ride with more care in future
The Stewards fined Richard Hannon (in GB), trainer, ?350 for lodging a passport in respect of Wedding Date (GB), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Wedding Date (GB) in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90
