The winner, Waqaas (GB), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Kempton on 21 June 2020, where the gelding finished seventh of nine, beaten 14 lengths.
Mark Usher could offer no explanation for Waqaas (GB)’s improved form other than the gelding appreciated having racing room to its outside on this occasion.
Following the race, Daniel Muscutt reported that Falcao (IRE), unplaced, hung right under pressure.
