Prior to this race, James Owen was asked to explain the reason why he was running Enthused (IRE) here at Cheltenham on going described as Good, Good to Soft in places, having reported that Enthused (IRE) would prefer a quicker surface following its run at Market Rasen on 30 September 2023, on going with the same description.
Owen’s explanation that, in his opinion, the ground at Market Rasen was riding loose and that he was prepared to allow the gelding to take its chance in a Grade 2 on this occasion, was noted.
An enquiry was held to consider interference , after the third last, involving Act Of Authority (FR), placed sixth, ridden by Sean Bowen, and Kamsinas (FR), placed second, ridden by Paddy Brennan.
Gavin Sheehan, the rider of Idy Wood (FR), placed third, and Jack Quinlan, the rider of the winner, Lookaway (IRE), were also present in the enquiry but were found to have no part in the interference.
Bowen was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he moved left-handed for a clear run causing Kamsinas (FR) to become short for room and Brennan having to take a check.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Kamsinas (FR), placed second, lost a left-hind shoe.
