we weren’t convinced she’d go on the surface but I had a chat with Seamie (Heffernan) after she ran in Leopardstown and he said to bring her up and give her a trial. We did that and Wayne was very happy with her the night he rode her here - we said we’d try it once and we might have just about got away with it. She won’t be coming back again - she’ll have a break now but it was just important to win as a three-year-old as the owner bred her. She’s a fine big filly and I’d say we’ll see a nice filly next year. Patrick Martin, trainer

The Stewards interviewed P.J. Smullen, rider of Surprisingly, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f), in that he used the whip with excessive frequency and having considered his clean record, cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard. K.J. Leonard, rider of Lady's Wish, trained by M.P. Sunderland, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost her action and never let herself down.
