Permission was given for Rickenbacker (IRE) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately ½ furlong out when the winner, Fall Of Rome (IRE), ridden by James Doyle, interfered with Strozzi (GER), placed second, ridden by Jamie Spencer.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Fall Of Rome (IRE)’s placing as the gelding was always holding Strozzi (GER), who lost little momentum as a result of the interference and Fall Of Rome (IRE) was going away at the line to win by ¾ length.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Fall Of Rome (IRE) hung sharply left-handed despite Doyle’s best efforts to correct the gelding intimidating Strozzi (GER) slightly off its intended line.
Following the race, Thore Hammer Hansen reported that Tyson (IRE), which started second favourite and finished eighth, ran too free.
