K.J. Leonard, rider of Prize Winner trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got a bump in the last 50 yards
Megan Nicholls, rider of Whiskey Treat trained by Timothy Doyle, reported to the Clerk of Scales that in her opinion her mount needs blinkers
B.M. Coen, rider of Marmalade N Toast trained by Patrick J.Flynn, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Cache Queen, ridden by G.C
O'Neill, placed second, Prize Winner, ridden by K.J. Leonard, placed third and Time For Mabel (FR), ridden by G.M. Ryan, placed first, where it appeared that Prize Winner ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that any interference was accidental in nature and took no further action
The Stewards requested a report from Adrian McGuinness, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Cache Queen, placed second, as compared with its recent form. Adrian McGuinness reported that his charge had worn blinkers on a number of occasions including for two victories last year but for some unexplained reason the filly ran disappointingly on her two recent runs. He added that her recent homework did not give any encouragement and as a last resort the blinkers were not declared for today's race. In conclusion he said that he did not have any real explanation for the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
